Spice up your staple ingredients
Many of our pantries are stocked with staple ingredients. Add variety to your meals by using your staples as a base for meals throughout the week. Cook items such as rice, beans or pasta in their basic form, then use these ingredients for soups, salads and sides. You can also try new spices on staples for a different taste.
Prep for the week
Prepare for weekly meals by making big batches of your staple meals/ingredients. This way you can simply heat up dinner during the week and cut down on time in the kitchen.
Try to use fresh vegetables whenever you can
Resist the urge to snack on unhealthy food by filling up on veggies. You can take two or three veggies, add a protein, grain, beans or lentils to make a rainbow bowl.
Involve the whole family
If you have picky eaters at home, getting everyone involved in the cooking process could help. It can make everyone more open to trying new foods. Plus, you can teach children cooking basics that they can use in the future. Since you can customize meals or simply follow a new recipe, cooking is a great way to have family time while everyone is home.
