Member Trains with Purpose and Becomes a Better Athlete After Joining Lake Forest Health & Fitness Center
After being at another fitness facility for over 25 years, Richard decided to look for a new fitness center that was better suited to his fitness routine, goals and age group. For Richard, the atmosphere at Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Health & Fitness Center is positive and encouraging. These qualities (created by the staff and members) provided him the motivation to train with purpose. Since joining the center in November of 2021, Richard has noticed improvements in his levels of strength, flexibility and mobility.
Training with Purpose
Richard began working one-on-one with fitness specialist Zack to improve the depth of his (front) squat. Zack provided Richard with the techniques and strategies to improve the depth and quality of his squat and now Richard is successfully squatting (well) below 90 degrees.
“The most significant positive impact Lake Forest Health & Fitness Center has had on my life is watching the desire of older members to exercise, and other members who offer their peak performance when working with their specific trainer. Too many times, I’ve seen clients tell trainers “it’s too hard” and the exercise is then skipped over. At LFHF, the members do everything their trainers ask of them. I’m a better athlete because of other members’ willingness to work hard, which becomes a competitive factor for me to work even harder,” says Richard.
Richard has experienced several improvements in his health including, a lower resting pulse rate, improved blood pressure readings, greater strength in certain muscle groups and an improved outlook on life and living.
“My experience and interactions with the staff, trainers and instructors has been extremely positive. The ability to achieve my fitness goals is due to the trainers and class instructors who are always willing to answer my questions and offer suggestions on improving the exercise, through variations or modifications. These ideas ultimately lead to full expression of the exercise.”
For Richard, what sets LFHF apart from other fitness centers is the ability to offer something for everyone. This includes the indoor pool, indoor track, spacious weight room and exercise studios.
“The center is very clean, which is impressive based upon the building’s size and member volume (serviced) each day. The attention to detail keeping the facility operational is also very important. There is little downtime if something is broken or in need of repair. Typically, most repairs are made within 24 hours or less. Additionally, the proximity to a major hospital is important, if a life-threatening event were to occur to a member during exercise.”
Richard has personally made many new connections and friendships with other members of the center. This has enhanced his experience by making the center a fun place to be. He looks forward to seeing fellow members each morning, which has made exercising in the morning the best part of his day.
“My advice to a prospective member is, if you’re looking to improve your health, work with knowledgeable trainers, and have fun doing it, LFHF is the place for you. There are fitness trainers and class instructors available for every person’s individual fitness level. I would recommend LFHF to others who are looking to improve their general health and fitness. The center represents a great overall value in comparison to other fitness centers in the area. The value is not defined as just monetary. The value can be measured holistically defined the members, the quality instructors and friendly staff and the overall facility itself.”
